CONFLICT RESOLUTION BOOKMARK ART CONTEST
Every September, the Dispute Resolution Center of Montgomery County, Inc. (DRC-MC) sponsors an art contest for Montgomery County students in grades K-8 and students are asked to submit original artwork which reflects the themes of conflict resolution or conflict prevention. The goal of this annual contest is to foster discussion about constructive problem solving (such as peer mediation, respecting differences, listening, practicing tolerance and apologizing, etc.) as alternatives to violence and bullying. During Mediation Week (the third week of October), the prize winning students receive cash prizes at an awards ceremony in the 359th Judicial District Court in Conroe, Texas. The bookmarks are then displayed at the Montgomery County Central Library and the 359th Judicial District Court for thirty (30) days following the awards ceremony. Some of the winning bookmarks are also reproduced and distributed to students throughout Montgomery County to encourage a culture of kindness in the schools.
A list of the current Conflict Resolution Bookmark Art Contest Winners is available here. To see the prize winners receive their prizes, please see the Photo Gallery. If you would like to receive copies of some of the prize winning bookmarks, please contact the DRC-MC at (936) 760-6914, Ext. 3 or email@example.com. You may also obtain selected bookmarks at any Montgomery County Memorial Library while supplies last.
